June has arrived and we have lofty expectations for warm and dry weather! As summer approaches, we have excellent news about Newport parking for residents that also makes it easier to take Fido with you for a bite to eat. With a ton of brick pizza ovens scattered around town, there are a lot options if you are craving pizza. It is time to get outside and while strolling on the waterfront check out the newly rebuilt Elm Street Pier. And, of course, the easiest and most cost-effective upgrade to a home that can have a dramatic impact is paint. Check out the latest paint trends below.

Parking
Parking season is underway, but this year there is a twist (that’s a good thing!) This year, Newport residential parking pass holders will be entitled to three free hours per day of parking in every metered space across the city as well as the Mary Street Parking Lot. Just be sure to enter your plate number into the digital kiosk to claim your free 3 hours! Parking at Easton’s Beach will also be free for Newport residents throughout the summer with no need to purchase a separate parking pass.
Pizza
For a small city, Newport is home to many restaurants that specialize in Pizza. Three alone have special wood fired pizza ovens imported from Italy, and one, Mother Pizza, was recently named one of the best Pizzerias in the USA by the Italian Publication 50 Top Pizza in addition to three separate best awards by Rhode Island Monthly. One thing we know for sure, is that pizza is very personal; some like it crispy and thin and others like a doughy crust. Below, please find a list of local pizza restaurants in no particular order – let us know which one you think serves up the best slice!

Pet Friendly
Dog-friendly restaurants are important because they cater to the growing number of pet owners, offering them a convenient way to enjoy meals and spend time with their dogs. This practice boosts business, encourages customer loyalty, reduces stress, and fosters a more welcoming and social atmosphere for both patrons and their canine companions. There are 41 pet friendly restaurants in Newport alone. In essence, dog-friendly restaurants are beneficial for both businesses and pet owners, creating a win-win situation where dogs are welcomed and valued as part of the dining experience.
Pier
The Elm Street Pier is an iconic local destination for swimming, fishing, and boating. A permanent rebuild has been ongoing with the expected project to be completed by July. The brand-new pier has an extended floating dock, swim ladders, and a new structure featuring touch-and-go facilities. The overall goal of the project was to enhance recreation access to and from the water, ensuring safety and ease for visitors. The revival of this cherished landmark promises to once again be a focal point for leisure and enjoyment in the coming summer months and beyond.

Paint
In 2025, designers and paint companies are leaning towards richer, more textured, and muted tones. Expect to see a move away from stark whites and grays, and towards warmer, earthier palettes with accents of jewel tones and deep blues and purples. Other notable trends are monochromatic palettes painting different shades of the same color such as light and dark blues or different shades of brown to create a unified and sophisticated look. Also expect to see more use of textured paint finishes, like velvet or matte, to add depth and visual interest.
