If you were one of many who waited with baited breath while Punxsutawney Phil predicted another six weeks of winter, you may want to ditch this American tradition of camping around a hole in the February cold awaiting a clueless groundhog to predict the weather!
From a ‘dusting’ to a blizzard and crazy wind & snowstorms in between, we have also experienced a few spring-like days with temperatures in the high’s. Let’s hope that actual spring is around the corner.

The Parade is back…
Rain, snow or shine, the 66th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a go on March 12th! With Grand Marshall Rocky Kempenaar at the helm, the marching bands, dignitaries and community groups will set forth from Newport’s City Hall at 11 a.m., waving and marching their way down Thames Street to St. Augustine’s Church in the heart of the Fifth Ward. Visit newportirish.com for information.
Spring Maintenance…
It’s almost time to put winter behind us and think about getting ready for spring. It’s not just wardrobes that need updating! Here are a few things to think about when readying your home for the warmer weather. There are a lot of great vendors in the area, here are a few we have personally used that can help you along the way.
-Schedule HVAC maintenance
–Dust ceiling fan blades
–Clean gutters & look for damaged shingles and/or siding
–Trim Trees back from AC condensers and your home
–Inspect screens for repairs/replacement
-Turn on outside water and/or outdoor shower
–Check for termites, they swarm in the spring and watch for sugar ants
-Consult a painter for exterior painting if needed
